Wadai - UiTM Terengganu

DUNGUN (Terengganu), Nov 14 Asia Pulse - Japan's Wakayama University has agreed in principle to collaborate with the Terengganu branch of Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) in the field of hotel and tourism. The university's delegation leader Professor Katsuaki Takeda said the university would send students to UiTM Terengganu, in Terengganu, the east coast state, to study the field if the university management agree to the idea.
Takeda, who is also the university's executive director for personnel and student's employment and international exchange division, admitted that there were some fields that the Malaysian universities were more advanced in than their Japanese counterparts.
"We were at UiTM Shah Alam two days ago and witnessed the university's 50th Anniversary Carnival. I did not expect there was a great university with international quality in Malaysia."
"After an indepth briefing on the hotel and tourism field when we were in Shah Alam,
we decided to come here to see the environment and other aspects including the courses for such a field. We then agreed to send our students here," he told Bernama during his visit to UiTM Terengganu Sunday.
Takeda said Wakayama University was located in an area with great tourism potential near Osaka, and that was why he wanted to send some of the university students to master the field in UiTM Terengganu. He said the diploma, degree and master courses available in UiTM for the field were hotel management; and food catering and culinary arts, and they were suitable to be absorbed by Wakayama University.
"We also choose UiTM Terengganu for its surrounding environment, where there is a lake and sea nearby. This is very suitable for our students."
"After visiting the restaurants and hotels here, as well as enjoying the food prepared by the chef,
we feel that it is palatable to us," he said.
